What is Spiritual Alchemy?

Spiritual Alchemy consists of three distinct phases. The first phase is called Entering the Fire. When we enter the Fire we burn away a lot of excess baggage that's been weighing us down for a long time. We do the work centered on this lifetime, but the weight of a lifetime is lifted as we progress through the first eight steps. This is the Fire Phase.

Entering the Fire is preparatory work equivalent to elementary school. We learn the basic skills required to advance spiritually to an elementary school level of about grade four. It is in these studies we become very familiar with our Ego and Personas.

The second phase is called Baptizing With Water. This is intermediate school where we learn more advanced skills required to carry us through to the completion of the Great Work. Thus we advance to about an intermediate school level of grade eight. It is in these studies we become familiar with our Soul. This is the Water Phase.

The third phase is Entering the Mind of the Divine and it refers to entering the First World of the Kaballah, the World of Air, the World of the Mind. This is high school and this is where we become familiar with our own spirit. This is the first creation of the Divine and it is in our spirit we create our own world. From our spirit, we create ourselves as we want to be and our world as we want it to be. Spiritual alchemy helps whenever we create something we don't want in our lives. Spiritual alchemy also helps when unplanned chaos happens

Spiritual alchemy is the process of un-creating our own imperfect world and creating a new perfect world. These are the familiar twelve steps of Alchemy about which many speak but fewcomprehend. This is done in three stages or three phases. The three phases have different names in the different spiritual alchemy traditions. In our tradition they are the Octagon Society, Temple of Solomon and Alchemical Fellowship.

In the Octagon Society we arduously take a personal inventory of all our faults one by one. We learn to accept our state of imperfection, forgive ourselves for past mistakes and love ourselves for being the Child of the Divine we truly are. This is Entering the Fire, the first phase of becoming the person we want to become. Make no mistake about it, once we Enter the Fire, we'll never be the same person we were, not ever again. We do this by working through the Eight Laws of the Octagon Society:

1. The Law of Acceptance
2. The Law of Happiness
3. The Law of Courage
4. The Law of Peace
5. The Law of Forgiveness
6. The Law of Strength
7. The Law of Teaching
8. The Law of Love

In the Temple of Solomon we become Baptized with Water. That is, we enter into our emotions in an accepting, forgiving and loving manner to ascertain the things we want to change about ourselves. We accept what we were in the past, forgive the past and love the creation we are.We accept where we are right now, forgive our current faults and love ourselves as a unique expression of the Divine. We prepare ourselves for the twelve steps which follow, the twelve steps that transform us from an imperfect being prone to error into the Child of the Divine we truly are.

In the Alchemical Fellowship we accomplish this transformation into a spiritual being perpetually filled with the Unconditional Love of the Divine. This is our original state of existence. No words can describe this state. We try by using such phrases as:

1. Walking with the Divine
2. Enlightenment
3. Resurrection
4. Divine-realization
5. Established in the Divine
6. Ascension
7. Spiritual Avatar

Spiritual giants have traveled this path before us and they clearly show us the way. It's a path of Entering the Mind of the Divine. This is our ultimate goal when we undertake incarnation on this plane. It's a three-step process of moving from the World of Ignorance where we are now through the Fire and Water Stages to reach the Air Stage.

The World of Ignorance is this world into which we are born and many of us reside for the duration of our lives. We reside here until we become aware this isn't working, believe there must be something better, and intend to do something about it. That's when we have the opportunity to Awaken from our Ignorance.

At this point we either take action (alchemy) and start to become the spiritual person we truly are or we do nothing (inertia) and we remain in this World of Ignorance. Spiritual Alchemy is a three-phase plan of action to help us become the spiritual giant we can become and rise above the darkness of our own ignorance by:

1. Entering the Fire - The Octagon Society
2. Baptized by Water - The Temple of Solomon
3. Enter the Mind of the Divine - The Order of Spiritual Alchemy
